Section 6: China University of Science and Technology (CUST) 中華科大 to Linguang MRT Station via Jiuwu Peak (11km)
After two days of rain and rest, Wednesday brought us some great weather; 20°c and sunny, perfect for hiking!
We caught the 205 bus to China University of Science and Technology (CUST) 中華科大 which is the start point of Section 6 on the Taipei Grand Trail.

The first hour involved climbing Nangang Mountain to Jiuwu Peak (375m), which we realised we had climbed last year as part of the Elephant Trail.

There were some amazing views of the Taipei 101 building and the surrounding city as we made our way, and we spotted a few shrines, temples and even a graveyard.

Along one of the residential roads we started chatting to a local Taiwanese named Sammy, who it turns out lived in Melbourne for many years. His daughter used to be a child model on the TV show The Price is Right and is now a famous singer in Taiwan!

Unfortunately we made a few wrong turns where we had to backtrack but managed to finish the 11km hike in about 3.5 hours.

We didn’t really stop for any breaks so caught the MRT straight to Saizeriya; a cheap and cheerful Italian chain restaurant from Japan! Sounds strange but it was exactly what we needed after a good days hike.
