27 – 28 May 2025 | Courses 81 – 82 & 64/5-6 (Dangjin)
Previous post —> Day 57 – 60 (Taean)
Having hiked over 900km so far, we have four more courses to complete to bridge the gap between the ones we completed at the start of our hiking adventures (83-97) until now (1-80). A quick two days in Dangjin before making our way back up north to Incheon for the final leg of our travels.
Day 61: Tuesday 27 May. We’ve discovered that we will do (almost) anything for a good bakery. Today we plan to make our way from Taean to Dangjin to complete a few more hikes, but with Seosan at the half way mark we decide to stop off at @nnn.bakery because we love their bread so much 🥐 We catch an early 8am bus and drop in right as they open as it will be a while before we can visit again, probably not until we return to Korea again next year. We buy a big tray of baked goods, have a lovely chat with the owner/baker Harry, and once again he kindly gives us a few extras for the road 🥖 We then catch the intercity bus to Dangjin, drop our bags off at the hotel and get the local bus to complete courses 81 & 82. During our travels we’ve completed some good hikes and we’ve completed some not so good hikes; well this hike was the most boring of them all 😑 The one thing that kept us motivated between the farms and rice fields was trying to figure out what the tall building was that we could see in the distance (as a complete anticlimax, it turned out to be an electrical cable factory) 🏭 We drop by Lotte Mart on the way back to the hotel and between the food we buy there and the bread from this morning, we are stocked up for the rest of the day. Pretty buggered after a long day (20km) and four big days of hiking 🥾 To top it off, Cheye gets a win the claw machine near our hotel!

Day 62: Wednesday 28 May. An easier day hiking 11km along branch courses 64 (5 & 6) and a much nicer walk than yesterday. Along the first path we spot many trees where locals have left their empty beverage bottles and aptly name them 병나무 / Bottle Trees. We pass by Hapdeok Farming Village which has a nice river and park 🌳 Stop for a break by Mega Coffee as we passed through Hapdeok, a town where the main street looks like it’s a straight out of 1992. Finished up at 솔뫼송지 / Solmoe Seongji, a holy site that lots of statues of the Pope and Korean religious figures ⛪️ We head back to town and via Lotte Mart (which is closed!) and prepare our things for tomorrow as we are heading back to the big city after nearly two months of being in rural Korea 🇰🇷 Only six courses to go!
